Understanding Notification Types

Notifications are the main way the app keeps you informed about circle members. There are arrival and departure alerts for saved places. There are also low‑battery notifications for your own device and others’. Additionally, you receive alerts when a member manually pauses location sharing. Each type has a distinct sound and icon on Android.

You can customize every notification category separately. Open the settings menu and look for “Alerts” or “Notifications”. From there, toggle each type on or off. Some users prefer to keep only arrival alerts for school or work places. Others disable driving alerts when they are not needed.

Keep in mind that Android’s system settings can override app preferences. Check your phone’s “App notifications” section if you stop receiving alerts. Life360 respects the device’s Do Not Disturb mode. Adjusting both the app and system settings gives you full control over your notification experience.
